What have you learned about Dinka culture? What markers from the film are representative of Dinka culture? Of American culture? What values do the Lost Boys hold? How do those values compare with your own?  I learned that they were a lot more communal then people are in the United States. People in the United States are a lot more individual then people in Africa and the boys were not used to that. A marker is when they were traveling in large groups and the people in the grocery store were freaked out by it. They boys are very religious, so they did celebrate Christmas, but they didn't know about Santa Claus and Tree. The boys are religious like me, but they don't celebrate Christmas with the tree and Santa Claus. What questions and fears do the Lost Boys have about life in the U.S.? Part 2- 1. In what ways to the boys eat differently than average Americans? They smash crackers and add milk, they eat with their hands and they eat soup in a cup.   2. What was John’s job at the age of 13? He had to bury children that died.   3. How does sleeping in America compare to sleeping at the refugee camp? In America they sleep on comfortable, thick, soft mattresses, and at the refugee camp they slept on the ground.  4. How many months of assistance does the government provide? What happens after that time? The government provided 3 months assistance, but after that they had to work and repay the government.  5. What holiday traditions do the boys want to know the meaning of? The Christmas tree and Santa Claus.  6. What is John scared of doing? Why? Ice skating because he is so tall.  7.
